I can't wait! Simon is one of my favorite vampires--human enough to be real, yet edgy enough to be a real vampire; a perfect balance of light and dark. It will be wonderful to read more about him and Zoe. Looking forward to your new novel, too. Thank you for sharing your stories and characters, and your beautiful writing with all of us! It's going to be a great summer for reading after all! Whoo-hoo!
Thanks for your kind comments. I'm afraid there isn't a new novel yet, though. Just this new edition of The Silver Liss and a new story in the Sideshow anthology. I'm working hard to make a new novel exist, however. Cheers!
Hi, Serena! I don't have a biography in book form, but if you go to my web page www.childrensbookguild.org/klause.htm you will find some information there and some links to articles about me. There's also a biography of me in Something About the Author, a reference book that many libraries carry. Cheers!
Oh I really want to read this book!! I also want to read Blood and Chocolate by Annette Klaus which was recommended to me for being the best vampire books ever plus there's a movie and Hugh Dancy is the lead male, so gotta watch it but first read book. (I'm anal about reading books before the movie) Me must get them ASAP!
OMG I just realized that this is YOUR blog. I clicked on a direct link to this from Sandra Mitchell's tweet on twitter and assumed it was a book blogger's post.
Sorry about.
*red in the face*
Hi, Ms. Annette Klaus! Sorry about about the weirdish comment previously where I assumed this is a book blogger blog.
I really enjoyed Blood and Chocolate. What did you think of the movie? How muc say did you have in its creation and what did you think of the final product? Oh and how did you feel about Vivian? I thought she was a very good actress and I lived her running! lol!
Mrs. Klause is there any way you might take a quick glance at the blog I've made for my upcoming novel? I know you are busy but if you have any advice on finding agents or suggestions for the blog, I'll welcome it with open arms. Thank you!!!!
Hi, Alex! I didn't have much say in the movie, sadly. Although there were things I liked in it, there were other things that really disappointed me. Oh well--just having a movie made of something I wrote is kinda cool. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll try to look at your blog when I have a bit more time, because I want to give it proper thought. It's hard for me to keep up with everything I have to do. Yikes!
Hi Annette! I was just wondering what you think of the whole Twilight frenzy and how The Silver Kiss was much better than it? LOL I liked Twilight the movie, didn't read the book, but I definitely think Buffy and The Silver Kiss was much better than Twilight.
Well, I read the first book, but I haven't read the others, or seen the movie. It's great that Twilight has made people aware of all the other vampire books out there, so maybe the rest of us might get some attention now. *grin*
i just bought the new Silver Kiss but where are the new stories :[ sorry! i just found your books and idk wats supposed to be different about this new book. Or do i have to buy a newer one to read the extra stories?
Hi, Kelly! Does the book you have look like the one in this post with the black cover? That's the new one. There's a story at the beginning called "The Summer of Love" and a story at the end called "The Christmas Cat." The book just came out at the end of July so maybe it isn't in many stores yet.
I have to admit that I am not fond of this book to much. In the best it is an entertaining story that I do enjoy, but isn't that what all fictional stories are to accomplish? It did allow me to escape the real world, hahaha! Truly, Blood and Chocolate will always be the book that I carry in my purse that is falling apart (if I would show anyone a picture of it, it would shock anyone who has some near appreciation to keeping books in straight order). Blood and Chocolate of course has been in my bookbag and to D.C., USA, wherever I have been. That book is small enough to carry with me wherever, like the movies and to those long waiting rooms. It does in fact help that the book is one of my favorite to read. I swear that book has caused my Chemistry grade to go down! =P. But, back to the true meaning of this comment. The book has a nice plot and though in the middle of it I lost interest I did thoroughly enjoy the characteristic of Simon and who could forget Zoe. It was also nice to read a book that does not circle around the obsessive "Edward" cult. I will always truly believe that Twilight has dissolved any interpertation about the horrid creatures that suck blood to live.
Hi, Emily! Wow, I'm so impressed that you carry Blood and Chocolate around with you. It must be pretty battered by now, huh? I'm sorry that you didn't like The Silver Kiss as much, but thanks for your comments. I'm glad you gave it a try.
Thank you for reading my very long comment, I hope you did not consider that a waste of your time! I also hope I did not offend you with the comment, I think I'm a little bias because Dracula (the unabridged version) will always be the one vampire book that has ever got to me. I was curious for my own, selfish reasons, could I ask you for a few writing tips? If not, well thank you for reading another long comment! =P Have a nice day!
okay. i just wanted to stay i've read blood and chocolate and the silver kiss and they were by far the best books i've ever read. before i read silver kiss i read twilight and i like twilight too just not as much as silver kiss. i liked simon better than edward too. the main reason most people love edward so much is because when she wrote it she made him perfect. (there wasn't anything wrong with him!) if someone were to write a book where every character was like edward it wouldn't work. there wouldn't be anything wrong so there would be no story. that's one reason i perfert simon. well, simon wasn't one hundred persent perfect so there was a good story. i'm trying to get my sister to read it but twilight sort of made her lose interest in vampires but she is going to read blood and chocolate. blood and chocolate was really good to...so was the movie. though the movie and the book were majorly different. like in the book they left of so much... like in the movie she ended up with adian while in the book she ended up with gabriel. in the movie i didn't really like the ending and the book just had way more stuff. i liked them both but in completely different ways. do you plan on writing anymore books? right now i normally just read blood and chocolate fanfiction. some of it's really good.
LOL You are perfectly right--characters have to have flaws and there needs to be at least one problem for there to be a story at all. Maybe if your sister likes B&C she'll go back and read SK. I haven't read any B&C fanfic because it feels too much like eavesdropping. *grin* Yes, I'm writing more, but I am very slow. Sheesh! Thanks for your nice post.
I truly loved both The Silver Kiss and Blood and Chocolate. To this day The Silver Kiss is my favorite novel from when I was in high school. I am so excited I found your blog, and heard that reprint will have the new short stories. (I am ordering it as I write this!)
Your writing is emotive, real, vivid and captivating. I have read the entire Twilight series and it in no way compares to your work. I thank you for creating a wonderful, timeless novel for me to enjoy over and over. :)
Hey, thanks, Meral. I must have lost your comment in my email. Sorry it took so long to respond. I really appreciate that yoiu took the time to send me your kind words. I hope you did get a chance to read those short stories.
Emily, sorry I didn't get around to those writing tips. I'm hoping to create a document to put on this blog or link to where I can give some of my ideas and link to those that are smarter than me. *grin*
Wow I love The silver kiss! But blood and chocolate is by far the BEST!! I also think freeks is a good book. I love how you described each cariter and the mummy love chick, Amazing! i kinda love your work. You are a Awesome aurthor! Heh i kinda love to read and I'm doing a project on you for school!
Ok I uh think you are amazing and wow I really love your work. I pasted this from my school report: I chose Annette because I read blood and chocolate and I think that it was my most favorite book I ever read. I also believe she has an amazing way with her words and she places them down so anyone can understand what she wants to get across.
I belive you have a way with what you want to do and I respect you for that.

I found this book when I was in either 6th or 7th grade, and it was a godsend. I was young, but going through a stage where I didn't know myself, and felt totally misunderstood and had very little self-esteem. Zoe and Simon really touched me then, and they still touch me now. Your novel opened up a new world to me, and helped to create the person I am today - a fresh highschool graduate ready to take on the world and all it has to offer - and I am very happy with that person. Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful book, hope to see something else soon perhaps?
Wow, Shaye! How nice of you to write and tell me that. I am so happy to have been able to help. Words like yours are so encouraging. Congratulations on graduating. I hope many wonderful adventures await you in the real world as well as in books.
Wow. I've been a fan of Blood and Chocolate since I was 10 or so (I'm 21 now), and it's still my favorite Werewolf book! I was at the book store and saw this The Silver Kiss, thought, "hmm, that's an interesting title..." Then I saw it was written by you, and I was like "Must! Buy!" And so I did. I couldn't even wait to get home to read it, I was 3/4 of the way through before I finished the 2 mile walk home. I absolutely adored "The Summer of Love". And of course, the rest was wonderful. I don't like it quite as much as Blood and Chocolate, but I think that's because the themes are less... impactful (which is not a word but let's say it is) to me.
Not to geek out, but the silver kiss is absolutely gorgeous and I was giddy inside when i saw you re-released it. I already had a cover with the older version but I definitely bought the newer one. ( was also working at a book store at the time.)
Simon as far as vampire, has to be my favorite things of all time.
Ugh! enough anyway. I'm super excited about your blog and will most likely cyber-stalk this amazing blog and show it to all my other friends who adore your work.
Not to geek out, but i was absolutely giddy once I found this blog and will definitely be pushing it on my other friends who love your work.
Silver kiss and alien were definitely my favorite by far. Simon was so complex, gentle but vicious and its what i MISS about vampires. GRAWR!
When i saw that you re-released silver kiss with those two additional stories I fangirled out and bought it. I had to, how could I not? your writing is fabulous and I hope to see more from you in the future.
Also, I did love blood and chocolate.. i was just so bitter she wound up with gabriel. ahaha :)
*is pleased* I read The Silver Kiss & Blood and Chocolate in junior high school forever ago, those little paperback book got me through sleepless nights and bus rides constantly even if I read them a kabillion times by now. Simple clean plots, believable characters, solid worlds and you've done your research on the creatures (old-fashioned vampires? yes please!) Don't stop what you're doing!
I read "Silver Kiss" years and years ago, in my highschool library. I remember crying then and I did now, when I read the ending again. I think vampires are a metaphor, or they exist, in a state of purgatory, they are dead, but they are not in hell or heaven, it is their second chance to make right what they didn't have the chance to do before - and then, let go, as Simon did.
Looking forward to hunting down the new edition with the bonus stories in a book store.
I've no idea if you update this blog or read comments any more, but wanted to add my voice to the list of fans - I first read The Silver Kiss a couple of decades ago when I was in my teens and it was new. I still love it, and it knocks socks off much of the YA stuff being written today, and is one of my favourite vampire books.
Thank you so much for your kind words Twenty Six Letters and the Anonymous who posted before you. I have been wickedly ignoring this blog, probably out of guilt for not finishing a new book yet. But work had picked up on the novel I'm writing so maybe I'll be feeling less guilty soon. *grin* I'm going to try and start posting here more often. After all, if I can find things to post on Facebook, I should be able to come up with something here, right?
Hi Annete!! I am peruvian and my english it's not so good but i'll take the risk to write to you. I loved your book "the silver kiss" in so many levels that I need to watch a movie!!! Do you have any offers to do it? Or there is already one? I just can't stop reading the book over and over again, imagining how Simon looks, how handsome he is and Zoe (in the latinamerican version of your book her name is Sofia) palid skin and everything, I need to watch them and cry with the end!!!!
I rode your book in 2006 and I've been reading it every month since then, I am 22 now so I need the movie!! Hahahaha
Kisses and saludos desde Peru!! Y gracias (thankyou) for such an amazing book :')
Oh, thank you, Andrea! I have had a few movie options on The Silver Kiss over the years, but nothing came of them. It would be fun to see a movie made, wouldn't it? Well, there's still time. Let's hope.

Dear "Letter Garden", I don't know how many pages those stories have. LOL One is middling and one is short.
